A not so creamy ale, despite what the name of the style suggests. When I picked this recipe and saw the name of the style, my brain instantly thought of a delicious, easy to drink beer with a thick, creamy head but to my surprise when it was finished, it tasted nothing like it – except the easy to drink part of course.
Brew day for this batch did not start as I’d hope. I was supposed to brew on a Saturday and Friday the day before, I receive a picture from my partner of my thermometer, broken into two parts. This is obviously not something you want to see the day before!
Oh well, what other thing can I do then start searching for a new one. I knew I wanted to upgrade to a digital since it’s a bit tedious to wait for an analog one, even though they’re precise. I had a cooking thermometer from IKEA which.. lacked in both quality and precision so that wouldn’t do either. After a bit of research I found a small, easy to use digital thermometer which I’m very happy with. It’s precise enough for me and it measures quickly.
Despite the thermometer ruckus, brew day went well and I’m happy with the beer. Even if I thought that the style of choice were going to taste a bit differently, I’m satisfied with a successful batch with just a minor hiccup.
